WikiCards Privacy Policy
Last updated: 28 September 2026
WikiCards is operated by IVRYN, the independent product studio founded and run by Victor Laybats, based in Paris, France. For support, content concerns or privacy requests, contact contact@victorlaybats.com.
Your collection and device backups
Your cards, progress, pending pack and hidden-card choices are saved locally. WikiCards has no account system and does not request your name, location, camera, contacts or advertising identifier. Clearing app data or uninstalling can remove your local save. The Android app disables cloud backup. On iOS, local preferences can be included in user-controlled iCloud or computer device backups; uninstalling does not erase an existing system backup. WikiCards does not provide account-based cloud synchronization.
Catalogue and images
The app downloads eligible encyclopedia cards and approved images from the WikiCards content service. That service imports articles and illustrations from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. Your collection and analytics installation identifier are not sent to those sources to obtain cards.
Network information, including an IP address, is needed to deliver requests and limit abusive traffic. The catalogue and report application does not store IP addresses or user-agent strings in its content database. Operational error logs may contain connection details needed to diagnose a failure. This information is not used for advertising or cross-company profiling.
Content reports
Hiding a card is a local choice. Reporting a card sends its identifier and a selected reason to the WikiCards content service. Reports do not require your name, email or analytics installation identifier. A report may remain queued locally until it can be delivered.
Reports support content review and removal. Reports for the same card and reason are combined into a count with first and most recent report times. These report records expire 90 days after the latest report in that group. Content withdrawal decisions may be retained to prevent an unsuitable item from reappearing; they do not identify the person who reported it.
RevenueCat connection
Native builds containing our RevenueCat integration connect to RevenueCat when the app starts. RevenueCat creates a random app identifier that can persist across sessions and receives technical information needed to operate the connection, such as the platform, app and SDK versions, locale and request information. This identifier is pseudonymous, not a name or an advertising ID. We do not send RevenueCat your collection, quiz answers, name or email, and we disable its optional device-identifier collection and diagnostics.
This connection is separate from the optional gameplay measurement below and does not switch off with that setting. RevenueCat supports app and purchase-status administration; WikiCards currently offers no purchases or subscriptions. If a Store transaction is present, the SDK may process its purchase information. A RevenueCat customer record alone does not mean that a person has paid or subscribed.
RevenueCat processes this data as our service provider. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy. Clearing local app data does not delete records already received by RevenueCat. For access or deletion requests, contact us using the address below; an email address alone may not identify a randomly generated app record.
Optional usage measurement
Usage measurement is off by default. The option appears only in a build configured with a WikiCards analytics service. When you enable it, events may contain a random installation identifier, timestamps, app visits, pack activity, revealed card IDs, article-link taps and sharing activity. They help measure gameplay and return visits.
The identifier persists between sessions. It is pseudonymous, not anonymous; it is not your name or an advertising ID. We do not use these events for targeted advertising, cross-company tracking or data brokerage.
Turning measurement off clears queued events and stops future collection. It does not recall a request already sent or immediately erase records already received. Collected event records expire after 90 days. An email address alone may not identify these technical records because the app does not associate them with your name or email.
External links and sharing
Opening a Wikipedia article, image credit, licence or sharing destination leaves WikiCards. Those services have their own privacy policies. Sharing uses the destination you choose; WikiCards does not read your messages or recipients.
Support and your choices
If you email us, we receive the address and information you choose to provide. We use it to respond to the request and keep the correspondence for as long as needed to handle it and meet applicable obligations. Please do not send passwords, payment details or unrelated sensitive information.
You can disable optional measurement, hide cards and clear local app data. Before clearing data, remember that this may erase your collection. For a request to access, correct or delete information we hold, or to ask about other applicable privacy rights, email contact@victorlaybats.com. You may also raise a privacy concern with the relevant data-protection authority.
No advertising or purchases
This version contains no advertising SDK and offers no paid items, checkout or subscriptions. We do not sell personal information. Content filtering is not age verification, and WikiCards is not presented as a Kids-category app.
