Deadline
The number of days is calculated in your browser from today’s date.
Apple gives the month, not the day. The count runs to the first day of the month, the earliest possible date.
App Store
Who is concerned
Teams that submit new apps or updates for iPhone to the App Store.
What changes
- Screenshots sized for iPhone Duo become a requirement: 1398 × 2034 or 2034 × 1398 pixels for the outer display, and 2007 × 2853 or 2853 × 2007 pixels for the inner display.
- Two Apple statements frame the rule: submissions need iPhone Duo screenshots starting April 2027 (news post), and screenshots are required for any app using the iOS 27.1 SDK or later (screenshot specifications).
- Submitting iPhone Duo screenshots earns a badge on the App Store product page that tells people the app is optimized for iPhone Duo.
- General screenshot rules still apply: at least one and up to 10 screenshots per device size in JPEG or PNG, with no alpha channel or transparency.
What to do
- Recompile with Xcode 27.1, which adds development support for iPhone Duo, and use Device Hub to see how the app behaves across all poses and orientations.
- Produce screenshots at the iPhone Duo sizes. Apple provides design guidance, downloadable templates and a product page preview tool in App Store Connect.
- Upload them in App Store Connect. Apple says you can submit iPhone Duo optimized apps today.
What happens after the date
Apple does not describe what happens to a submission that lacks iPhone Duo screenshots. Check App Store Connect when you submit.
